Sleep Hallows

I closed my eyes
When I felt the first waves of the sleep waters
wash over my nodding self.
it felt like the April of the day-
balmy warmth thawing out my frozen belly

they snore, they sigh
they grumble at the unrepentant bore
The students at the Nigerian Law School
make the seats hum and vibrate with their ceaseless banter

Yet the tutor drones on
